Its time for the 48th Annual Luzerne County Fair where we are Proud of Our Heritage,
Envisioning the Future. Over the years, the Luzerne County Fair has grown from the
initial one day charitable fund raiser to the current five day county agricultural event. The
fair has grown not only in location and geographical size, but has grown in the scope and
depth of agricultural exhibits. Our fair forefathers of dedicated community leaders and
non-profit club volunteers had the vision and determination to create an educational
environment for family fun. Through their sweat and enthusiasm, their visions became
our heritage. Today, we are very proud of that heritage and we, as a Fair Board, are
charged with continuing this rich community tradition. This is not an easy task. Since our
early 1963 roots, we continue to be entirely organized and staffed by dedicated
volunteers from the Back Mountain and Wyoming Valley area. We have strived to
provide the community with the best fair possible, with proceeds reinvested back into our
community through non-profit organizations. It is our hope that our future visions will
become part of our heritage for future generations to support and enjoy.
The true secret behind the Fair are Our Volunteers. With sincere and heartfelt
appreciation, I want to thank these enthusiastic and conscientious individuals and
groups for giving freely of their time, talents, and efforts, not only with fair time
preparations, but also throughout the year with weekly maintenance or fairground
special events. Youve worked hard and have done an outstanding job. You are an
inspiration to others and are a huge part of the fairs success.
Lastly, a special thanks to you, the fairgoers, for your continued support and patronage
of the fair. Without your support, this fair would not be possible. It is our hope that you
join us in being Proud of Our Heritage, Envisioning the Future at the 2010 Luzerne
County Fair.
